How to Connect Your PS4 to a Bluetooth Device
First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure your PS4 is connected to your local network. This is the most important step. You can skip this section if you’re not connected yet. Next, you’ll want to make sure your device is paired with your PS4. To do this, you’ll need to power on your device and wait for it to detect your PS4. Once it’s connected, you can go to Settings > System > Bluetooth and check to see if your device is listed there. If it isn’t, then you need to pair it manually. Once your device has been detected, you’ll want to go to Settings > System > Keyboard > Keyboard Profiles and make sure that “Auto-connect when keyboard is connected” is set to “Off”.
What are the Different Types of PS4 Bluetooth Dongles?
There are a few different types of Bluetooth dongles you can connect to your PS4. The most popular one, as far as gaming accessories go, is the Bluetooth 4.0 “A” type. This type of dongle is backward-compatible with earlier generations of the system, so if you have a PlayStation 3 or 4, you can simply plug this dongle into the port that came with your console and you’ll be fine. You’ll also find other types of dongles on the market that support lower data rates called Bluetooth 3.0 “A” or “B”, which means they’ll need to be paired with a device that uses a higher data rate like a phone or tablet.
Why You Need a PS4 Bluetooth Dongle
Since these devices are tiny, handheld gadgets that plug into your console, they don’t have a ton of power. This can lead to certain games not working properly or even not starting at all. Plus, you need to make sure to keep these dongles charged so they don’t die on you while you’re on the go. If you’re looking for a cheap alternative to an expensive dongle, a Bluetooth dongle is actually a pretty decent solution. They don’t have the same features as a full-blown Bluetooth headset or a mouse, so they aren’t as accurate or responsive, but they do the job and don’t break the bank.
