How to store pellets for your parrot
There are three main methods to store pellets for your parrot: At the ready – When you’re finished with your evening meal and ready to add to the meal box. This is usually the most efficient method because you don’t waste any food. In the field – While your parrot is at the park or in the garden, you can buy pellets at the grocery store or on the way home from work. In the car – While your parrot is on the way to the park or school, he can often be found in the car seat, eating the pellets that are in there. In the house – While you’re in the house sitting at home, you can often find pellets in the refrigerator or the freezer.
Why use pellets?
Pellets are small, white earth-based fertilizers that contain various nutrients that may not be found in the typical zoo or aviary feed. The nutrient content of pellets is usually around 50–100% less than that of baby broods, which is why you’ll see higher production per bird per cycle. Pellets also come in handy when you’re a first time breeders who haven’t collected eggs or chicks, so you can start a breeding program from scratch.
