what type of HDMI cable should you get?
If you want to hear the audio from your TV or other sources, you need a sound system that has an HDMI port.
However, even if all your devices have HDMI outputs, you will still need to use an HDMI cable to connect them all together.
You can buy an HDMI cable for any length you like, but we’d recommend getting one around 20 feet long (~6 meters). That should be enough to reach from your AV receiver all the way to your TV.
It depends on whether your system has an HDMI input or multiple inputs. If it has one HDMI input, then you just need the standard HDMI cable – HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0. If it has two HDMI inputs, you’ll need an HDMI splitter (also known as a 2-way HDMI switch). A splitter is a great option if you have an older TV with only an HDMI 1 input.
If you want to connect your Blu-ray player or another device with an HDMI output to your soundbar, then you’ll also need a Blu-ray optical cable. This attaches to one of the optical inputs on your soundbar.
You can also get an RCA (Red/White/Yellow) cable if you have an older TV with a composite output – you can use this to connect your Blu-ray player to your soundbar.
